      Summary: Dr. Ashok D. Kadlag is Ph. D in Agricultural Chemisty through sandwich programme of IARI, New Delhi and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri. His area of interest is plant nutrition and pesticide chemistry. He is teaching Agricultural Chemistry since 1986. Presently, he is working as a Soil Chemist, Soil Test Crop Response Correlation Studies, MPKV, Rahuri (M.S.). Prof. Arun B. Bhosale is a post graduate in Horticulture from Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri. He is working as Assistant Professor of Horticulture at Dryland Agricultural Research Station, Solapur. Since last six year he is engaged in development of production technology for dryland fruit crops. He has developed 8 production technologies of different fruit crops. Sangram D. Kale is a post graduate in Agricultural Chemistry from Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri (M. S.). He has ten years of experience in agricultural research and extension out of which five years are at Dryland Agricultural Research Station, Solapur. Presently, he is working as Senior Research Assistant Soil Test Crop Response Correlation Studies, MPKV, Rahuri (M.S.). Sanjay M. Todmal is a post graduate in Soil Science from Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri. He has ten years of experience in agricultural research and extension. Presently, he is working as Senior Research Assistant Soil Test Crop Response Correlation Studies, MPKV, Rahuri.

      During recent decades of research by agricultural scientists working in the dryland and rainfed horticulture, developed many new technologies to aid farmers in soil and water conservations, special horticultural practices and nutrient management.
      A major objective in the preparation of this book was to bring together in one volume a comprehensive discussion of theory and practical application of the various technologies. To attain that objective the services of group of distinguished scientists were enlisted to prepare the various chapters. The results of their totally unselfish co-operation in this enterprise are manifested in the several chapters that comprise the book.
      The authors are of the view that this book is useful addition to the literature and would be useful for general use of the scientists in the literature and would be beneficial for general use to the scientists in the basic stream, agricultural scientists, students and for the person engaged in NGO’s associated with soil, water conservation, nutrient management in dryland/rainfed horticulture.
